The president of the Pancyprian Bar Association, Michalis Vorkas, complained to the parliamentary Committee on Institutions that the European Commission's report on the Rule of Law presents inaccurate data regarding the delivery of justice in Cyprus.

Mr. Vorkas argued that judicial decisions are made after 17 years, while the report presents a false image. He also spoke of delays in the execution of decisions and a lack of court clerks.

MP Andreas Pasiourtidis agreed with Mr. Vorkas' statements regarding the slow pace of justice. The head of the Justice sector of the Ministry of Justice, Phaidra Grigoriou, stated that the statistics are provided by the judicial service to CEPEJ (European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice), which uses them for the report.

Mr. Pasiourtidis also criticized the government for the lack of reforms in primary justice.
