Cyprus Parliament to Review President's Pension Referrals

The Plenary of the Parliament will convene in an extraordinary session at 15:00 to discuss referrals from the President of the Republic, focusing on the law concerning multiple pensions for state officials.

Members of Parliament will examine 9 amending legislations that have been returned for reconsideration. Six of these relate to the issue of multiple pensions in the public sector, aiming to limit or abolish the practice of officials receiving multiple pensions.

The President returned the legislation citing constitutional issues and unequal treatment.
