UK Sends Merlin Helicopter to Cyprus, HMS Dragon to Depart

Britain has sent a Merlin Mk2 naval helicopter to Cyprus to strengthen the defense of its military bases. The helicopter was transported from a naval air station in Cornwall and will join the two Wildcat helicopters already deployed in Cyprus since last Friday.
According to British officials, the Merlin will offer "an additional level of defense" as it has the ability to fly at an altitude of up to one mile, providing early warning of any incoming missiles or unmanned aircraft.
Furthermore, Defense Minister John Healey stated that the HMS Dragon will depart for Cyprus within "the next two days." Naval crews are working "tirelessly" to prepare the warship.
