Harris Georgiades: Supports Turkey's EU accession for democratization

Harris Georgiades, head of the Cypriot delegation, expressed his support for Turkey's prospect of joining the EU. According to Mr. Georgiades, accession could force Turkey to become a more democratic country and abandon policies reminiscent of Putin's.

Mr. Georgiades was responding to claims by Turkish MPs regarding the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Meanwhile, Giorgos Koukoumas stated that the EU cannot talk about values while siding with the Netanyahu regime, and advocated for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

Alekos Tryfonidis highlighted the disproportionate migration flows Cyprus receives and the instrumentalization of these flows by Turkey, emphasizing the importance of the 'Amalthea' initiative.
