Hatzidakis: Support Measures After Eurostat's 2025 Announcement

Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis stated that more support measures will be considered after Eurostat's announcement regarding the 2025 surplus. Mr. Hatzidakis emphasized the importance of fiscal balance and avoiding populist policies.
Referring to new support measures, he noted that the results for the 2025 budget execution will be announced soon by Eurostat, providing a clearer picture of the possibilities for 2026 and the fiscal space for 2027. He pointed out that the government wants to be substantially present, monitoring the crisis and its consequences, with targeted measures of temporary effect.
Regarding the possibility of early elections, Mr. Hatzidakis mentioned that there are several initiatives that need to move forward, such as the Constitutional revision, the Municipal Code, the transfer of urban planning to the Land Registry, and the Recovery Fund.
Finally, regarding the vote on lifting the immunity of MPs for the OPEKEPE case, he reminded that parliamentary immunity is automatically lifted for anything not related to parliamentary duties, based on the 2019 Constitutional revision.
