Christodoulides Pledges Support to Lawyers on PDS's 70th Anniversary

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, addressed the anniversary event celebrating 70 years since the founding of the Pancyprian Bar Association (PDS), which took place on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.

In his address, President Christodoulides expressed the State's appreciation for the legal community's long-standing contribution to defending human rights and consolidating the rule of law.

The President referred to the need for a faster and higher quality justice system, and the government's efforts to promote bills aimed at improving the functioning of the courts. He also emphasized the intention to strengthen alternative dispute resolution methods and address delayed cases.

Mr. Christodoulides announced that the issue of signing the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of the Legal Profession would be submitted to the Council of Ministers, confirming the government's support for the legal community.
