Ministry of Education Urges Dialogue with OELMEK on Public Schools

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (ΥΠΑΝ) has called on OELMEK to choose dialogue over 'tactics' on issues concerning public schools. The announcement followed OELMEK's decision to prevent secondary general education school principals from attending a scheduled meeting for information on the new school year.
The Ministry expressed its regret that OELMEK does not properly assess the role of principals and that their association is misinforming, using procedural and union demands as a pretext. The Ministry stressed that dialogue is the appropriate way to resolve requests and extended a public invitation to OELMEK to resolve the serious issues facing the education system.
ΥΠΑΝ urges OELMEK to avoid decisions that harm public schools and diminish the role of its executives, insisting on a more responsible attitude, especially on issues related to educational reform.
