The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works assures that no unjustified funds or requests will be granted to contractors, responding to posts on social media regarding public works.

The Ministry emphasizes that the priority is the restart of projects with sustainable and reliable terms, for the benefit of citizens.

Specifically, it is mentioned that criticism regarding the termination of public contracts ignores the fact that the contract for the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road was terminated because the contractor chose not to proceed, submitting unjustified demands.

Indicatively, for a project of approximately €73 million, the contractor requested €36 million in compensation and a 59-month extension, without any legal right, according to the Central Committee for Changes and Claims.

The Ministry of Transport concludes that the Government exhausted all legal negotiation margins before terminating the contract.
