Greek Wiretapping Case: Possible Upgrade to Felonies

The wiretapping case is being reopened with a possible upgrade of charges to felonies, following a court decision regarding the Predator case. The case file is being forwarded to the prosecutor's office for further investigation, including potential felonies.
The decision of the Athens Single-Member Misdemeanor Court is considered a significant upgrade of the case, as it extends the investigation to new involved parties and re-examines the involvement of the initial defendants, such as Tal Dilian, Sara Hamou, Felix Bitziou, and Yannis Lavranos.
As part of the new investigation, Rotem Farkas, Merom Harpaz, Einat Semana, Dimitris Xypteras, Ioannis Toumpis, Ioannis Boliaris, and Sotiris Dallas will be examined. The possibility of espionage is also being investigated, due to the extent of the surveillance and the potential cooperation with foreign powers.
In addition, Aimilios Kosmidis and Konstantinos Petrisis are being investigated for complicity and false testimony, as well as Stamatis Trimbalis for possible false testimony before the parliamentary inquiry committee.
Finally, the continued operation of Intellexa in Greece during the period 2023–2024 is being examined, regarding the prohibition of trafficking in surveillance software.
