Ministry of Agriculture Denies Order to Break Doors at Farm

The Ministry of Agriculture has denied claims by a livestock farmer that Minister Maria Panayiotou ordered officials to break down doors at a farm in Geri, during a protest regarding the handling of foot-and-mouth disease.

In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that the Minister never gave such an order and that her consistent position is the strict enforcement of legislation by the competent authorities.

It is noted that, according to Article 9(1) of the Animal Health Law, veterinarians and inspectors have the right to enter premises where there are suspicions of violations of the law.
