The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, announced fourteen actions to be implemented at the start of the new school year, aimed at improving public schools.

The actions include:

  • Updating curricula and reducing content.
  • Promoting digital skills for students and teachers.
  • Operating all-day gymnasiums with an emphasis on new technologies and the Greek language.
  • Implementing the strategy for violence and delinquency in schools.
  • Improving the teaching of the Greek language in the classroom.
  • Pilot implementation of the Technical Gymnasium institution.
  • German language learning program in Gymnasium (pilot).
  • Reintroduction of the work week in the second year of Lyceum.
  • Expanding financial literacy education in Gymnasium.
  • Expanding the eΔΕΑ electronic administration and education system.
  • Improving procedures in regional special education committees.
  • Reintroduction of Civic Education.
  • Strengthening the self-evaluation of the school unit.
  • Improving and upgrading schools of special interest.

Michaelidou stated that the goals concern all levels of education, with an emphasis on a student-centered approach and moving away from the exam-centered model.
