Reactions to "Jalla": RIK Removes Scenes

The song "Jalla," which will represent Cyprus in Eurovision, has sparked strong reactions. A group of citizens sent a letter to RIK, the Cypriot Broadcasting Corporation, requesting the withdrawal of the song and music video, considering it an "unacceptable presentation of Cyprus."
In their letter, the citizens argue that the song offends the country, its traditions, and its aesthetics, promoting inappropriate role models. They also express concerns about scenes of road traffic violations in the music video.
RIK responded through its General Director, Thanasis Tsokos, stating that it does not share the comparisons with events in museums and that the song has positive acceptance online. However, RIK announced that it had removed scenes that did not follow road safety rules from the music video.
