Gogo Alexandrinou: "I am not the wife of the Mayor of Nicosia, I am Gogo"

Gogo Alexandrinou, the wife of the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, stated in a recent interview that she does not wish to be referred to as "the wife of the Mayor." She emphasized that she prefers to be called by her first name.

Specifically, Gogo Alexandrinou stated: "To begin with, I am not the wife of the Mayor of Nicosia. To begin with, I am Gogo. And this does not mean that I do not respect my husband or his position, but in no way does that define me."

The statement was broadcast on Christiana Aristotelous' show on March 16.

Alexandrinou added: "What I like is to enter somewhere and have them say 'hello Gogo' to me, with my first name. I like that very much. I can't stand either 'Mrs. Gogo', or 'Mrs. Alexandrinou', or 'the Mayor's wife has arrived'."
