Cyprus AAEC Intensifies Efforts to Empower Youth Against Drugs

The Cyprus National Addictions Authority (AAEC) is focusing on targeted actions to strengthen the skills and resilience of young people against drugs. This is the message from AAEC President Christos Minas on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The AAEC, as the national coordinating body, is implementing the National Strategy for Addressing Addiction 2021–2028 and the Action Plan 2025–2028. The AAEC's vision is for all citizens to have access to prevention, treatment, and social reintegration services.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), prevention and access to quality treatment services are vital. This year's UNODC campaign is titled «The evidence is clear: invest in prevention. Break the cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime», highlighting the connection between organized crime and drug trafficking.
