The Deputy Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus is intensifying efforts to upgrade Troodos and the mountainous areas, aiming to attract more tourists and extend the tourist season.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, visited the Troodos area and met with representatives of community councils, organized groups, and tourism agencies. During the meeting, the improvement of the area's attractiveness was noted, and mutual willingness for further upgrades was confirmed.

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism is investing in upgrading tourism services through incentive plans, which include upgrading hotel businesses and public spaces. Upgrade projects have already begun, such as the renovation of Troodos Square and the Verengaria Hotel, as well as the construction of new hotels in Platres.

Development prospects include sports tourism, wine production, religious tourism, and highlighting the rare flora and fauna. For the successful development of mountainous areas, a unified strategy and appropriate promotion through social media and other tools are required.

The goal is to establish Troodos as a competitive destination, comparable to areas such as Hallstatt in Austria and Tuscany in Italy.
