Cyprus Forestry College: Ascent to Saittas for Student Selection

The Cyprus Forestry College is reopening in September after a 10-year suspension. Certification of two educational programs has been secured from the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (DIPAE).

Out of 151 candidates, 57 passed the written exams and will participate in athletic and endurance tests, as well as an ascent in the Saittas area on July 10 and 11. The goal is to select 20 students due to the understaffing of the Forest Department.

The director of the Forestry College, Andreas Mavrogiankoumos, stated that candidates will be tested in six events at the Makario Stadium on July 7 and 8, similar to those required for the Police and Fire Department. Subsequently, they will be evaluated on their ability to move in wooded areas by climbing Saittas mountain.

The first 20 who succeed in all six events and the ascent will secure a place in the three-year study program "Higher Diploma in Forestry".
