The funeral service of Irene Marinaki took place today in Piraeus. Irene Marinaki, née Karakatsani, passed away at the age of 85.

Irene Marinaki was the wife of Miltiadis Marinakis and mother of Evangelos Marinakis. She was distinguished for her contribution to the society of Piraeus and her support to her family.

She came from the Ypsilantis family and had Cretan and Pontian roots. She stood by her husband, Miltiadis, in his business and political career, while she played an active role in their company.

The 'Lady of Piraeus', as she was called, was known for her philanthropic work and her dedication to Piraeus and Olympiacos.
