Urgent Appeal for Blood Donations Due to Low Blood Reserves

The Head of the Blood Center, Androulla Panagiotou, has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations due to dangerously low blood reserves. Speaking to ΚΥΠΕ, Ms. Panagiotou stated that there are serious shortages due to summer vacations.

She pointed out that there is a risk of postponing surgeries and potentially rescheduling transfusions. "The needs for blood are very high," she emphasized, calling on people to donate blood before or after their vacations.

300 bottles of blood are needed daily to cover the needs. Next week, the Blood Center will be at the Mall Nicosia, while the blood donation stations in Nicosia and Limassol will be open from 07:30 to 20:00. In Paphos and Larnaca, the hours will be from 07:30 to 15:00 in case of external blood donation.
