July 28: Name Day and Celebrations

Today, July 28th, the Greek Orthodox calendar commemorates St. Irene Chrysovalantou, St. Acacius the Martyr, St. Auxentius, and other Saints.

Celebrating Names: Acacius, Auxentius, Drosos, Timon, Irene, Chrysovalanto.

St. Irene Chrysovalantou lived during the reign of Queen Theodora and was known for her piety. Initially intended for marriage, she chose to become a nun at the Chrysovalantou Monastery.

Today is also World Hepatitis Day.
