Cyprus Oncology Center Expansion: State Support Needed
Share on:

The Cyprus Oncology Center of the Bank of Cyprus is expanding with new surgeries and a branch in Larnaca, but faces increased financial needs.

The Chairman of the Board, Christos Triantafyllidis, emphasized to the Parliamentary Committee on Financial Affairs the need for further state support, particularly due to the reimbursement method by GESY, which does not recognize the center's specialization.

Discussions are underway with the HIO for a legislative regulation that will allow differentiated compensation for specialized centers.

A new PET/CT machine worth €4.5 million, donated by an anonymous Cypriot, is in the final stage of installation, and three new operating rooms are being created.

A new unit is expected to be operational in Larnaca by October 2026, serving patients from the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta.

The Center faces capacity problems and has requested the state to grant the space of the old Government Chemistry for expansion.
