The Market of Social Isolation: Loneliness Becomes a Product

Loneliness is no longer just a social phenomenon but a market. Apps like Timeleft, which bring strangers to the same table, and luxury membership clubs are turning "belonging" into a product.
Every Wednesday night, six strangers meet at a restaurant in Athens, through an algorithm that gathers them based on personality traits. They pay 10-15 euros to participate, in addition to the cost of the meal. Timeleft operates in 200 cities worldwide and has found a response in Athens.
The app aims to remove the "social risk" in acquaintances, simplifying the process of socialization.
