Holy Synod Condemns Terrorist Attack in Damascus

The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus has condemned the terrorist attack on the Prophet Elias Church in Doueila, Damascus, Syria.

The announcement was made after the Holy Synod's regular session, where the difficulties faced by Christians in the Middle East were discussed. It was also decided to send a condolence message to Patriarch John of Antioch.

"The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus learned with deep sorrow of the terrible terrorist act in the Prophet Elias Church in Doueila, Damascus, Syria, which resulted in the death of innocent people and the injury of many others," the statement said.

The Church of Cyprus expressed its support to the Patriarchate of Antioch and condemned the "unholy, barbaric and criminal terrorist act." It also called on the authorities to investigate the incident and provide protection to Christians and all residents of the country.
