Crete: Over 3,200 Traffic Violations Recorded in Police Checks

In Crete, traffic police conducted 11,396 checks during the week of June 15-21, recording 3,263 violations.
The violations include:
- Speeding: 345
- Not wearing a helmet: 233
- Not wearing a seatbelt: 191
- Driving without a license: 169
- Driving under the influence of alcohol: 92
- Using a mobile phone while driving: 79
- Driving in the opposite direction: 96
- Illegal overtaking: 56
- Dangerous maneuvers: 98
- Red light violation: 23
- Uninsured vehicles: 33
- Vehicle inspection violations: 54
- Driving against a one-way street: 22
- Not using child seats: 6
- Other violations: 1,766
During the three-day period from June 20-22, 74 violations were confirmed for driving under the influence of alcohol, with 7 arrests of individuals who had over 0.60 mgr/lt.
