Crete: Over 3,200 Traffic Violations Recorded in Police Checks

In Crete, traffic police conducted 11,396 checks during the week of June 15-21, recording 3,263 violations.

The violations include:

  • Speeding: 345
  • Not wearing a helmet: 233
  • Not wearing a seatbelt: 191
  • Driving without a license: 169
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol: 92
  • Using a mobile phone while driving: 79
  • Driving in the opposite direction: 96
  • Illegal overtaking: 56
  • Dangerous maneuvers: 98
  • Red light violation: 23
  • Uninsured vehicles: 33
  • Vehicle inspection violations: 54
  • Driving against a one-way street: 22
  • Not using child seats: 6
  • Other violations: 1,766

During the three-day period from June 20-22, 74 violations were confirmed for driving under the influence of alcohol, with 7 arrests of individuals who had over 0.60 mgr/lt.
