Cyprus: Free PrEP for HIV Prevention Available from 2025

From October 2025, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV will be provided free of charge through the Clinics at the General Hospitals of Nicosia and Larnaca.
PrEP is a preventive medication for HIV-negative individuals, reducing the risk of infection upon exposure to the virus. When taken correctly, its effectiveness reaches 99%.
Access to PrEP is the result of years of collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the AIDS Solidarity Movement (ASM Cyprus), Accept LGBTQI Cyprus, and other organizations.
The treatment can be taken daily or on demand, always with medical guidance. It does not protect against other STIs, so condom use remains essential.
For information, the Cyprus PrEP Point is available (tel. 9960 7005, www.asmCyprus.org).
