Communities in the western peri-urban area of Paphos are facing severe traffic congestion due to increased traffic flow towards the city center. The situation is exacerbated by delays in the implementation of the Paphos Western Bypass.

AKEL MP, Valentinos Fakontis, has appealed to the responsible ministers following representations from the Western Paphos Communities Complex. He is requesting information on the timelines for the second phase of the project, the first phase of which was completed in February 2012, up to the junction with the Tombs of the Kings Avenue.

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, responded that the project has been included in the Budget for commencement within 2027. The Department of Public Works will proceed with the preparation of construction plans and the announcement of the project. The final regulatory plan has been sent by the Department of Town Planning and Housing.

Valentinos Fakontis has called on the government to expedite the procedures for the completion of the second phase of the Western Bypass as soon as possible.
