A few months before her death, Maria Aristotelous, an athlete and lawyer, spoke to "Phileleftheros" about her battle with cancer, delivering a powerful message of life. The interview, titled "Athlete Maria Aristotelous Learned Not to Stop Fighting," was published last April.

Maria was diagnosed with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer that affects muscle tissue and appeared in her facial area. She stated that the moment of the announcement was a relief for her, as she knew she had to deal with the situation immediately.

In her interview, Maria emphasized that "cancer is not taboo" and that we should not be afraid to say the word. She urged people to act immediately, without fear and with emphasis on the present, as prevention is always better than cure.

Maria Aristotelous was a champion in pole vaulting, with many distinctions, while also completing her law studies and working as a lawyer. Her marriage to Andreas moved Cyprus, as despite the difficulties, Maria remained strong and optimistic.

Maria Aristotelous will attend the 50th Christodoula Walk on April 12, 2025, an event of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, to deliver a message of hope and support to people living with cancer.
