Maria Delithanasi Supports Angeliki Iliadi After Abuse Allegations

Maria Delithanasi, who has spoken openly about her own legal battle and abuse allegations against her ex-husband, Kostas Doxas, publicly expressed her support for Angeliki Iliadi, following revelations of abuse she suffered from her former partner, Babis Lazaridis.

In a post, Maria Delithanasi addressed the social treatment of women who report abuse, emphasizing that often, in addition to the perpetrator, the woman herself is judged. She pointed out that society focuses on when, how, and why the woman spoke, questioning the truth of her words.

Delithanasi stressed that society often prefers to protect the "sick normality" rather than the truth, and shared her personal experience, saying she knows very well what it means to be looked at askance when talking about abuse. Nevertheless, she stated she is proud of her strength and what she has achieved.

Maria Delithanasi concluded by saying that every time a woman stands up and speaks about the abuse she suffered, she opens the way for other women who are afraid to speak. She called on society to learn to listen and not to judge.
