Measures to protect elderly in care homes due to heatwave

Coordinated actions to protect the elderly in Care Homes from high temperatures have been agreed between the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and the Association of Private Nursing Homes.

The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evaggelou, and the President of the Association, Loizos Grigoriadis, agreed on the active participation of the Association, through ΚΕΒΕ, in informing about compliance with the measures.

Care Homes must have air conditioning in all areas, provide plenty of fluids to residents, and seek medical advice for residents with chronic diseases. The Social Welfare Services (ΥΚΕ) will carry out intensive inspections during the summer months.
