Nikos Gritsis: 'I Understood My Limits in Prison'

Lyricist Nikos Gritsis spoke about his experience in prison, where he served a 15-month sentence. According to him, this period, which coincided with turbulent uprisings in the prison system in 1995, helped him understand his limits and revise his image of manhood.
In an interview on the show 'EQ' on November 3, Nikos Gritsis described the conditions of his detention in Korydallos, Patras and Nafplio, where he faced the harshness of imprisonment and coexistence with serious criminals. He characteristically stated: 'You don't often have the opportunity to see five murderers gathered in five square meters.'
Nikos Gritsis also spoke about the delinquent behaviors that led him to prison, explaining that he sought to attract attention, as he was not excellent in other areas. He admitted that, although he could not do absolute harm, his actions had consequences.
