National Guard Soldiers Face Financial Hardship: Choose Camp Over Home

According to the newspaper Fileleftheros, many soldiers in the National Guard are facing financial difficulties. The Pancyprian Committee of Mothers and Relatives of National Guardsmen (PEMSE) offers assistance by visiting camps and providing financial support through the commanders.
The president of PEMSE, Mrs. Miranda Skettou Ioannou, stated that some soldiers prefer to stay in the units due to the financial hardship of their families, where they have access to hot water and food.
Unit commanders often support these soldiers, even offering personal financial assistance. GEEF and the Ministry of Defense are aware of the problem and have established the Plan for Needy National Guardsmen and the Committee for Social Problems, providing additional financial support to soldiers in need.
