SPAVO March for Violence Victims in Nicosia

The Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO) organized a march in Nicosia to support victims of gender-based, domestic, and sexual violence.

The march started from Eleftheria Square and ended at the Nicosia Municipal Garden, at the memorial site for murdered women. Representatives of women's organizations and the Deputy Mayor of Nicosia, Chrysanthos Fakas, participated.

The President of SPAVO, Maria Kousiou, expressed her disappointment at the Republic's failure to protect victims and called for justice, transparency, and reforms. She called on the Government to contribute to the establishment of an independent monitoring team for the implementation of the recommendations of the ECtHR and GREVIO.

The event concluded with a minute of silence in memory of the victims.
