President of Cyprus calls for support for individuals with addictions

The President of the Republic of Cyprus emphasized the need for social support for individuals facing addiction problems, noting that addictions are a complex phenomenon affecting society as a whole.
In his speech, he stated that it is everyone's duty to create an environment of prevention, support, and acceptance, free from prejudice. He also praised the role of the Pancyprian Anti-Narcotics Association (PASYA) in prevention, information, and therapeutic intervention.
The President referred to the cooperative program "STOXOS" between PASYA and the Nursing Services Department of the Ministry of Health, which he described as the only direct access and harm reduction program in Cyprus, approved by the Cyprus Addictions Authority.
Furthermore, he stressed that the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and PASYA falls within the framework of public health programs and the strategy to support the development of volunteerism. The President congratulated the administration, staff, volunteers, and supporters of PASYA, assuring them of the State's support.
In conclusion, he reiterated the State's commitment to strengthening prevention policies and access to quality services, aiming for a society without addictions and exclusions.
