Roaching: The New Dating Trend Inspired by… Cockroaches

A new dating trend called "roaching" is emerging, adding another challenge to finding a partner. Following ghosting and other similar practices, roaching further complicates the landscape of modern dating.
What is Roaching?
Roaching refers to the practice of dating multiple people simultaneously without disclosing it to each potential partner. The name comes from the idea that if you see one cockroach, there are others hidden. Thus, if you discover that your partner has other relationships, it is likely there are more.
Susan Trombetti, CEO of Exclusive Matchmaking, told the New York Post that roaching is a symptom of the modern dating era, where people are less likely to commit quickly and prefer to explore all their options.
Roaching vs. Cheating
Unlike cheating, roaching occurs when there is no established exclusive relationship. Roaching involves deliberately avoiding commitment and clearly defining the relationship status.
