Shocking Claims of Prison Conditions in Cyprus Central Jail

Serious allegations regarding the living conditions at Cyprus Central Jail have surfaced, with inmates reporting the presence of mice and cockroaches in their food. The allegations, published in the newspaper "Alithia", describe third-world conditions, inedible food, and inadequate hygiene measures.
According to the reports, one convict found a tooth in his food, while another found a cooked cockroach. The incident that overflowed the cup was the discovery of an entire cooked mouse in a food portion. Despite complaints, there has been no improvement.
Additionally, in the women's ward, inmates report eating cold food for months. There is a refusal to provide a microwave oven, despite promises. There are also serious hygiene problems, with only one of the six communal showers working.
