Almost one in four in the EU faces disability

Almost one in four adults (over 16 years old) in the European Union faces some form of disability, according to Eurostat data.
Specifically, 23.9% of people reported partial or severe long-term limitations in their daily activities due to health problems.
Among the member states, the disability rate ranges from 12.7% in Bulgaria to 41.2% in Latvia.
Men are less likely to report a disability compared to women, a pattern observed in all member states. The largest differences between the sexes are recorded in Portugal, the Netherlands, and Finland. Conversely, Cyprus, Ireland, and Slovenia show the smallest differences.
