The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has announced emergency measures to address the thermal stress of private sector employees due to the high temperatures expected on Friday, June 27, 2025.

According to the circular, a mandatory work stoppage is in effect from 12:00 to 17:00 for manual labor in outdoor areas in the Regions of Attica and Thessaly, as well as the Regional Units of Kilkis, Serres, Viotia, Argolida, Ilia, and Aetolia-Acarnania.

The work stoppage applies to all employees regardless of their type of employment, including digital platforms. Specifically for delivery businesses, order taking with pickup from the store (takeaway) and order fulfillment with private and public vehicles equipped with air conditioning may remain active.

Additionally, for employees belonging to high-risk groups, businesses should provide the option of remote work, if feasible.

In case of non-compliance, a fine of 2,000 euros per employee will be imposed.
