Almeida: 'If I were fired, they wouldn't even need to pay me'

Matías Almeida is in a difficult position at Sevilla, as his team is only two points above the relegation zone in La Liga. He clarified that he is not thinking about compensation.

'I am a fighter and I don't think about that. As a coach, I just want to avoid relegation. If I were fired, they wouldn't even need to pay me, I didn't come to the club for that. I want to lead the club to a different situation,' said Almeida ahead of the match against Girona.

Sevilla's sporting director, Antonio Cordón, stated: 'When we started this project, we knew that Almeida was the right coach. We have complete confidence in him because he is a born worker, the team fully supports him, as do we.'
