Fotini Tricha Named World's Top Water Polo Athlete for 2025

Fotini Tricha has been named the world's top water polo athlete for 2025 by the World Aquatics.

The 20-year-old Olympiacos player won the World Championship in Singapore with the Women's National Team, where she was also the top scorer. Additionally, she won the World Cup in China and the Greek Championship with Olympiacos.

At the award ceremony, Tricha stated: "The individual distinction doesn't matter. I'm more interested in the gold. The goals are a result of the team's system. It's a team effort."

Eleftheria Plevritou was also on the list of nominees. The top male water polo player for 2025 was Spain's Alvaro Granados, while Stelios Argyropoulos - Kanakakis was also a nominee.
