The Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) is embarking on a 27,000-kilometer journey to the United States to meet with Spanish NBA players and persuade them to join the national team.

FEB President Elisa Aguilar and coach Chus Mateo will visit nine cities, including Boston, Houston, and San Francisco, culminating in the All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

The focus of the trip is on Hugo Gonzalez, Santi Aldama, Eli Ndiaye, Aday Mara, and Mario Saint-Supery, whom the FEB considers the future leaders of "La Familia."

This initiative comes after Spain's disappointing performance at EuroBasket 2025 and ahead of the 2027 World Cup and EuroBasket 2029, which will be partially held in Madrid.

Elisa Aguilar took over as FEB president in October 2023, replacing Jorge Garbajosa, while Chus Mateo succeeded Sergio Scariolo as national team coach in September 2025.
