Share on:

Five climbers from Kalamata successfully completed the ascent to the summit of Mount Ararat, at 5,147 meters. The mountain is located on the border of Turkey - Armenia and is considered a challenging mountaineering destination.

The climbers, members of the Kalamata Mountaineering Club (Manolis Aloimonos, Giorgos Loumakis, Loukia Falkova, Vasilis Triantafyllos and Panagiotis Krompas), had been preparing for the mission for months.

Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in Turkey, is a popular destination for climbers due to its large elevation difference, low temperatures and glaciers. The ascent takes several days, with stops at camps for altitude adjustment. The climbers raised the flag of Greece and Kalamata at the summit.
