Swimming: Doumas Achieves Historic Performance at World Junior Championships

Evangelos Doumas made history at the Aquatic Center in Otopeni, Romania, becoming the first Greek swimmer to finish the 100m breaststroke in under one minute. In the semi-final of the World Junior Championships, Doumas recorded a time of 59.77 and qualified third for the final (20/8, 19:00).

His previous personal best was 1:00.18 from 6/7/2025 at the European Junior Championships in Slovakia. The previous Greek Men's & Junior Men's Record was held by Dimitris Xynadas with 1:00.03 from 7/8/2009.

The 2nd best time in the semi-finals (59.72) was recorded by Japan's Ohashi Shin, while first was Britain's Philip Novak with 59.24.
