Morocco Invests $4.2 Billion in Airports Ahead of 2030 World Cup

Morocco has announced a $4.2 billion investment to expand and modernize its airports in preparation for co-hosting the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
The goal is to more than double the annual airport capacity from 38 million to 80 million passengers by the end of the decade. The focus is on Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport, where a new terminal and an additional runway will be built at a cost of $2.5 billion.
Expansions and renovations are also planned for airports in Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez. Tourism is a major source of revenue for Morocco, with a record 17 million international visitors in 2024 and a target of 26 million by 2030.
