Italian long jumper Mattia Furlani, 20, has stated that he is inspired by tennis player Jannik Sinner and aims for the top at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he will face Miltiadis Tentoglou and other top athletes.

Furlani, who has excelled in indoor athletics, cited Sinner's determination as a source of inspiration. He has also studied historical moments in the sport, such as the 1991 competition between Powell and Lewis.

His coach is his mother, Kathy Seck, with whom he has focused on improving his technique. In Tokyo, he will face Miltiadis Tentoglou, Ehammer, Adcock, and the Jamaicans McLeod and Gayle.

Despite the difference in top performance, Furlani is determined and states that qualifying for the final is just the beginning.
