Bilbao - Sevilla 3-2: Valverde wins La Liga opener

Bilbao defeated Sevilla 3-2 in a thrilling match for the opening of La Liga. Ernesto Valverde emerged victorious against Matias Almeyda in their first managerial battle.

The home side took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Nico (35' pen.) and Sanandi (43'). Sevilla responded with Lukebakio (69') and Agoumé (72') to equalize at 2-2. However, Navarro scored in the 79th minute to make it 3-2 for Bilbao.

Earlier, Nico also hit the woodwork for Bilbao in the 50th minute, while Sevilla missed several chances to take the lead. In the 19th minute, Lukebakio hit the post for the visitors.
