Lucas Souza Retires from Football

Lucas Souza has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. The Brazilian midfielder, known for his time with AEL Limassol and APOEL, decided to hang up his boots after a 15-year career.
Souza played for AEL in the 2016-17 season and for APOEL for three years, from 2017 to 2020, before returning to Cyprus for the 2021-22 season. In a statement, Souza expressed his gratitude for his career and mentioned his experiences in the Champions League and Europa League.
"After 15 years of dedication to professional football, it's time to turn the page," he said. "I choose to say goodbye to the fields to live a new phase of my life next to my family."
