Simeone Apologizes to Vinícius and Pérez: 'I Was Not Right'

Diego Simeone has publicly apologized to Vinícius Júnior and Florentino Pérez for comments made during the Spanish Super Cup semi-final between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.

The Atlético Madrid coach, Diego Simeone, had warned Vinícius Júnior that Florentino Pérez might dismiss him from the club due to his behavior. In a press conference before the Copa del Rey match against Deportivo La Coruña, Simeone stated: 'I would like to apologize to Mr. Florentino Pérez and Mr. Vinícius for what you saw. It is not right to put myself in this position. I accept that I did not do the right thing, I was not right.'

This incident adds to previous confrontations between the two teams, including a derby in September 2022 and a Copa del Rey match in 2024.
