Th. Vlachos: "We finally won a medal at the European Championship"

National coach Thodoros Vlachos spoke to ERT after Greece's historic bronze medal win at the European Men's Water Polo Championship in Belgrade.

Greece defeated Italy 12-5 in the small final.

Thodoros Vlachos stated: "It finally came, because all this puts pressure on us, that we haven't achieved anything. Finally. We wanted it a lot, especially after the bad performance. We wanted to leave here with the medal, for us, because we have never won a European medal."

He added: "I believe that such performances give medals and qualifications. Italy remains a superpower. Maybe they had the burden because they have many young players. We have all come to this moment again. But Italy is still a superpower. We wanted the victory, we didn't care if it would be by a difference of one goal or five."
