Camel Protest in Budapest Highlights Drought Concerns

Approximately 100 protesters marched in Budapest with camels towards the Ministry of Agriculture to raise awareness about drought and desertification in Hungary.
The protesters are calling on the government to designate zones suitable for water retention and to promote sustainable land use. László Kúlsar, a farmer and organizer of the protest, emphasized the need to restore the necessary conditions for agricultural production.
Hungary is considered one of the most vulnerable countries to drought within the European Union, with 63% of its land in a state of alert, according to the European Drought Observatory.
The government states that it is working towards a more sustainable use of resources and has allocated 422 million euros to optimize consumption by the agricultural sector in the last 7 years.
