Etna Eruption: Lava Flow Towards Valle del Bove

New explosive activity is occurring at the Etna volcano in Sicily, with a lava flow heading towards the Valle del Bove valley, according to the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The lava outflow began on January 1, 2026, from an opening at an altitude of 2,000–2,100 meters, reaching up to 1,500 meters. The valley acts as a natural barrier, protecting populated areas.
No damage or danger to residents has been reported so far. Authorities remain on high alert.
