Evia: Thousands of Animals Dead in Afrati Fire

A major fire in central Evia has caused incalculable damage, with a pig farm in Afrati being completely destroyed. According to the Vice Regional Governor of Evia, Giorgos Kelaitidis, the fire resulted in the death of thousands of animals.

Specifically, approximately 1,000 sows and 2,000 piglets were charred to death, while the unit's facilities were leveled. Firefighters continue firefighting efforts, with Mr. Kelaitidis stressing that despite the improved image, the risk of rekindling remains due to strong winds.

Ground and air forces remain in the area, while residents express concern about their properties. The Civil Protection is on full alert.
